October 21-27, 2018 - Pro Bono Net is pleased to announce our partnerships and celebrations surrounding the 10th Annual National Celebration of Pro Bono. The National Celebration of Pro Bono focuses the nation's attention on the increasing need for pro bono and acknowledges the dedication and unprecedented response of attorneys who volunteer their services throughout the year. This year we are celebrating National Pro Bono Week by focusing on disaster resiliency in addition to pro bono work around the country. 

October, 2018 - Pro Bono Net is proud to announce the launch of a new website connecting crime victims with information and free civil legal assistance being piloted in three Western New York counties, allowing victims to learn about their rights and connect with resources or legal representation. Funded by the New York State Office of Victim Services, New York Crime Victims Legal Help will initially serve Erie, Genesee, and Niagra counties and will expand to serve crime victims Upstate and on Long Island by the end of 2019. October, 2018 - October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Through LawHelp's resources, domestic violence survivors can identify abusive behavior, obtain orders of protection, protect their children and access assistance related to housing rights and public benefits. August, 2018 - Pro Bono Net and Lone Star Legal Aid are pleased to announce the launch of the National Disaster Legal Aid Advocacy Center, a new online resource to support public interest legal advocates helping communities recover, rebuild and grow resilience in the wake of disasters. June 5, 2018 – Pro Bono Net teamed up with the Practising Law Institute to bring you a discussion about the access to justice movement and role of pro bono in closing the gap with Honorable Jonathan Lippman and Pro Bono Net’s Executive Director, Mark O’Brien. This FREE one-hour discussion focused on a number of tipics related to the access to justice community and the roles of pro bono and technology in closing the justice gap. May, 2018 – The Immigration Advocates Network (IAN) and Pro Bono Net (PBN) won this year’s ClearMark Award from the Center for Plain Language, for best Spanish-language website.  The winning site,, which was launched shortly after the November 2016 elections, helps immigrants understand their legal options and find legal help.  Click here to learn more.

May 10-12, 2018 – Pro Bono Net staff members presented on a variety of equal justice issues at the 2018 Equal Justice Conference in San Diego, California. Hosted by the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service and the National Legal Aid & Defender Association, the Equal Justice Conference brings together all components of the legal community to discuss equal justice issues as they relate to the delivery of legal services to the poor. Our staff members presented on a range of topics, including cutting-edge collaboration models in the justice communities, technology to expand pro bono participation, and designing and delivering better tools to assist self-represented litigants.

April 15-21, 2018 – In honor of National Volunteer Week 2018, Pro Bono Net would like to extend or gratitude to the thousands of volunteer lawyers who make a huge difference for those in need. For those at risk of losing their homes, income and even their children, volunteer lawyers are an indispensable resource. Now more than ever it is important for us to support our most vulnerable communities. This wouldn't be possible without the immense efforts of volunteer lawyers around the country and the organizations that facilitate volunteering

April, 2018 – “Make a Plan” is a new resource on created in response to emergency requests by immigrant families at workshops and community events. By answering a few simple questions, anyone can get a checklist of what to do to protect their children, manage their home, bank accounts, insurance and other financial assets if they are detained or deported. March 28, 2018 – On March 28, 2018 we were joined by supporters and friends in the legal aid community for an update on Hurricane Maria legal response efforts in Puerto Rico and a conversation about critical needs, including opportunities for ongoing engagement by the New York area justice community. Ariadna M. Godreau Aubert provided a presentation on Ayuda Legal Puerto Rico, Ayuda Legal Huracán María, and additional efforts to provide necessary legal aid in the wake of last year's hurricane season. February, 2018 – LawHelp Interactive (LHI) Goes Mobile. Since the 2015 relaunch of LHI, we’ve seen an increase in the number of people using LHI on their phones and tablets. With this in mind LHI created a new mobile-first redesign and related enhancements to the platform. Click here to learn more. 

February, 2018immi One Year In: Online Tool Helps Immigrants Protect Their Future. One year ago Immigration Advocates Network launched to provide free information in English and Spanish and screen users for potential immigration relief. In the United States, an estimated 10 to 20% of undocumented immigrants have legal options, but do not know it. Immi helps them find out more. In its first year more than 100,000 people have visited the site and nearly half have tried the personalized screening interview to find out if they qualify for potential relief.

October, 2017 -  Legal aid programs help survivors rebuild their lives and navigate the road to recovery, including applying for disaster benefits, replacing wills and vital documents, making insurance claims, combatting contractor fraud and scams, and more. April, 2017 - The Legal Services Corporation (LSC), Microsoft Corporation, and Pro Bono Net have named Alaska and Hawaii as state partners in a pilot program to develop online, statewide legal portals to direct individuals with civil legal needs to the most appropriate forms of assistance! Pro Bono Net Executive Director Mark O'Brien, Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith, and LSC President James J. Sandman made the formal announcement and discussed the project at the LSC forum on increasing access to justice at Georgetown University Law Center.
